Corrugated Pot

Made with micaceous clay that I mined from the northern part of New Mexico. The pot is hand built using the coiling method. The rim is fluted. There are 15 rows of corrugation. The inside of the pot is sandpapered and rag polished as well. Fired outdoors in the traditional method using cedar wood and horse dung.

The Corrugated Pot is fashioned after old cooking pots. Corrugation was placed as a means of being able to hold the pot without slipping out of the Cook's hands.

In 2020 this pot was awarded the Class II: Pottery Division B 2nd Place Award at the Heard Indian Fair.
